Note: The US total includes production from the Federal Offshore Gulf of Mexico, which is not assigned to any state — currently around 1.9 million barrels per day, or about 14% of US output. State figures therefore sum to less than the US total.

What this data measures

Annual and monthly crude oil production by state, measured in millions of barrels. This covers field production of crude oil, including lease condensate, from all producing states.

How this data is constructed

Crude oil production data are sourced from the EIA Petroleum Supply Monthly, which collects data from operators of crude oil leases, wells, and gathering facilities. State-level annual figures are aggregated from monthly data. The US total includes offshore production attributed to the Gulf of Mexico federal offshore area.
