The absolute year-over-year change in total retail electricity consumption by state, expressed in terawatt-hours. Positive values indicate growing electricity demand; negative values indicate declining demand.
Retail electricity sales by state are sourced from the EIA Form EIA-861 survey. Annual load growth is computed by subtracting each year's total sales from the following year's total for each state.
