Each fuel source's share of total electricity generation — coal, natural gas, nuclear, wind, solar, hydro, and others — for each state over time. Shares sum to 100% in every year, so this shows the long-run transition in each state's electricity mix rather than how much electricity it generates.
Generation data by fuel type are sourced from the EIA State Electricity Profiles, which aggregate Form EIA-923 data. Each source's annual generation is reported for each state and summarized in the state profiles.
