Weekly average retail gasoline prices by state and region, adjusted for inflation to 2024 dollars. Gasoline prices reflect the cost of crude oil, refining, distribution, and local taxes, and vary considerably across states.
Weekly retail gasoline price data are collected by the EIA through its weekly survey of retail outlets. Prices represent the average price for regular-grade gasoline (unleaded) at self-service pumps. State-level data are available for states with sufficient retail coverage; other states are grouped into regional aggregates.
To adjust for inflation, nominal prices are deflated using the monthly CPIAUCSL series from FRED, rebased to 2024 dollars.
