Annual gross natural gas withdrawals by state — the total quantity of natural gas extracted from the ground before any processing, including gas later used for re-injection, vented, flared, or processed to extract liquids. This is the broadest measure of natural gas extraction activity.
Gross natural gas withdrawal data are sourced from the EIA's Natural Gas Supply and Disposition dataset. Gross withdrawals include all gas produced at the wellhead, before any extraction losses, processing, or use in production operations.
