Average annual natural gas prices by sector — residential, commercial, industrial, and electric power — for each state and the US overall, adjusted for inflation. Different sectors face different prices due to volume discounts and contract structures.
Annual natural gas price data by sector and state are sourced from the EIA's Natural Gas Prices dataset (EIA DNAV, annual series). EIA computes these as total revenue divided by total volume, so they are volume-weighted rather than an average of the twelve monthly prices. To adjust for inflation, nominal prices are deflated using the annual CPIAUCSL series from FRED.
